Elkhorn, WI - For those who enjoy the fine art of dining out, United Way of Walworth County launches a new community restaurant program. This coming January, lovers of good food can dine and support United Way at the same time, as participating restaurants donate a portion of their incoming revenue.
Elkhorn, WI - Wanting to help those in need, particularly those in one's own backyard, is a timeless, American tradition - and United Way makes it easy. For those living in Walworth County, the recent move combining the United Ways of Delavan and Lake Geneva into one United Way serving all of Walworth County has helped to bring community based giving to the entire area. The new United Way of Walworth County now serves more than 40 agencies throughout the county.
At the kickoff reception for the newly formed United Way of Walworth County, Jim Santy was recognized for his thirty years of volunteer service to the former United Way of Delavan-Darien. Santy began his United Way service by chairing the 1979 fund appeal in Delavan-Darien. The next year, he succeeded Jim Leonhart as board president and has continuously served the Delavan-Darien United Way as Board President, Treasurer, or Volunteer Executive Director.
The United Way of Walworth County has announced plans to host the first annual Run United race event on Saturday, September 4th, 2010. The 5 mile/2mile run/walk will begin at 8am and end at the Walworth County fairgrounds where participants can extend the fun with a day at the County Fair. Medals for top finishers of each race and category will be given and a drawing to win prizes for both runners and volunteers will be featured at the finish line.
